Legendary street photographer Ted Pushinsky has been shooting in the bay area for well over a quarter century. Through a raw style and a honest instinct, Pushinsky has been wandering the streets of the Golden City, capturing timeless scenes of America and abroad. »Being in a city (San Francisco or New York or Beijing or Kuala Lumpur) means being surrounded by hundreds of thousands or even millions of people. There was a fine TV show, The Naked City, and at the end of each episode the narrator would say, “There are eight million stories in the naked city; this has been one of them,” Pushinsky said in an interview with Ken Miller for Alldayeveryday, who describes his photographic approach as »sneaky and fast«.

Ted Pushinsky got into photography at the age of 10 years old. His grand-aunt, who was a painter, printed her own photographs. As a kid, she took him to the Museum of Modern Art to see the “Family of Man” show. He then started out making a living shooting modern dance, boxing and wrestling—shooting action. Impressed by the films shot in black and white in Life Magazine, the street photographer have always had a dark room where he learned to process and print.

In the recent years, Pushinsky has published zines with San Diego-based photography magazine and publisher Hamburger Eyes. Today, he releases his latest book entitled »Love is strange«, due mid-February. 41 pages, classic black and white pictures, signed and numbered, published in limited editions (100 copies).
